Tractive Unit Scania R 500 of a New Generation Won the Title Green Truck Again
The Green Truck Award is established by two leading industry magazines in Germany: VerkehrsRundschau and Trucker. The purpose of the German journalistic test is to identify trucks with the lowest fuel consumption. The comparative test involves trucks with a full weight of 40 tons. Tests are carried out on their own regulations of publications on public roads in the area between Munich and Nuremberg. At the same time, for all the test vehicles the normalized additional load is used, which makes it possible to obtain results corresponding to the actual operation. Low fuel consumption not only reduces operating costs, but also reduces CO2 emissions, helping to preserve the environment.
In 2018, in a contest for the Green Truck Award, the Scania R 500 won big. Scania’s gap from its closest rival was an impressive 0.4 liters per 100 km with average fuel consumption of 24.92 l / 100 km and a speed of 79, 91 km / h on a standard test track of 350 km.
“The Green Truck Award is unique because it is entirely devoted to the most important aspects of commercial vehicles for customers - from operating costs to environmental friendliness. The fact that we again received such an award proves the superiority of Scania in these areas. " – commented Wolfgang Buschan, manager of products for trunk transportation of Scania truck division.
